Postgraduate Diploma in education at the University of Goroka is a one year program for those who hold first degrees and would like to become teachers or trainers. In first semester, the program focuses on teaching and learning of pedagogical content knowledge and introduces the teaching and learning skills and methods in the foam of microteaching. In second semester, the program much longer practice time as a block teaching practice, whereby the students are exposed to the use of all learn subject and pedagogical content knowledge and skills. The aim of PGDE program is to develop or improve learner’s skill and methods to graduate to teach at least two subjects in their specialised field from recognised universities in PNG and overseas.

The University of Goroka in PNG offers Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education. this program is completed by research thesis but three/four prerequisite courses can do as prerequisite to the Doctor of Philosophy Program.

Minimum Requirements: The candidate must have a GPA of 3.7 or better. In other words, the applicants who have excellent academic results and have developed expertise in a substantive area at the Honours or Masters levels. As per By-law No.13 Section 2 and 3 for admission to Doctoral candidature shall have: 1. Qualified for the award of a Master degree by research at an acceptable level; or 2. An appropriate Bachelor degree with class 1 or class 2(i) Honours from PNG university or an equivalent overseas tertiary institution, taken over a minimum of four years (full-time) Equivalent); or 3. Qualified for entry into the UOG Master degree by research Program and duly enrolled and shown exceptional ability in the conduct of a research project which is clearly capable of being extended to a doctoral level; and 4. Must have some recent publications related to area of interest.
The University of Goroka in Papua New Guinea offers Master of Education Program. The Master of Education majoring in teaching and Teacher Education; Curriculum studies; Educational Leadership and Management; Governance; and policy and planning. Each program consists of four or five courses and a research thesis. Three /four courses are taken in semester one mainly to provide knowledge and skills in subject content and research to prepare the candidates to complete their Masters thesis which done in next two semesters.
