​University of Fiji

Study at University of Fiji

​The University of Fiji was established by the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji to provide high quality, affordable higher education to students who had no access to other tertiary institutions. The University’s objectives include providing higher education relevant to Fiji’s needs, but within a global framework and to support Fiji’s development as a sustainable, peaceful, inclusive and progressive society committed to good governance. The Ministry of Education and the University have signed an MOU to provide a framework for the relationship between the Government and The University of Fiji until an Act is passed to provide a complete legislative framework for the University.

​The University of Fiji has entered into arrangements with a number of universities to ensure international recognition of its qualifications and to encourage joint research and publications, including the University of Canberra,University of Waikato and the University of New England.

LANGUAGE
English is widely spoken in Fiji as one of the three main languages, along with Fijian and Hindustani. All universities use English as the language of instruction, so language barriers should be no concern when studying in Fiji.

EDUCATION SYSTEM
Primary school is free and attended by children usually from the age of 6 up to 16 years (8 years). They then go on to secondary school for up to 5 years - students either leave after 3 years or continue to complete their final 2 years to qualify for tertiary education. Very few secondary schools offer vocational education.

WORK DURING YOUR STUDY

Once student accept an offer and have a valid passport, student can fly to Fiji and apply for a study permit.
