Aiyura National High School is one of the top performing Schools of Excellence located in the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea. The  school has won awards of academic excellence and had ever since being in the top 10 ranking consecutively since 2016 till today.

The school has a population of about 1000 students ( only Grade 11 and 12 students) and teaching staff of 30. 

​Aiyura National High School is part of the six School of Excellence the PNG government has established . The other school of Excellence are :

• Sogeri National High School 

Aiyura National High School offers different subjects which are housed under different departments.

• LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

In this department, there is only one subject, English which is offered to all students both grade eleven and twelve. It is sort of compulsory to every student who enrolls into our school.

• MATHEMATICS

Mathematics department offers two subjects which are, General Math and Advanced Math.

• SCIENCE

In the Science department there are three subjects namely; Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

• SOCIAL SCIENCE

Social Science department offers the following subjects; Economics, Geography and History.

• EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

After all the academic activities end at 1:30pm, students go for lunch and return for afternoon activities which include the following;

Sports: inter-house sports competitions
School Service: General cleaning up of the school
Farm Work: Veggies, piggery, cattle, poultry, fish farming

• WEEKEND ACTIVITIES

As a boarding school, we organize weekend activities so as to get the students busy and active as well. The activities are not limited to the following;

Morning charge as early as 06:00 up until 08:00
Weekend sports whole day until 04:00pm
Night activities: debates, quizzes, talent shows

How to apply to Study at Aiyura National High School
The application Process to study at the Aiyura National High School is through the School Leaver Form SLF. Inorder for the school to enroll you, you must fill the  SLF  correctly. Below are some tips.

• You must be currently doing your Grade 10. 
• Fill out the School Leaver Form. Indicate or tick on the form its says you want to be considered for National High School.
• You or your parent must write a letter expression your interest to study at Aiyura National High School. This letter must be attached with the School leaver Form. Your school should assist you. 

Requirements to study at Aiyura National High School

• You must be currently doing Grade 10 at a high School or a Secondary school. 
• You must have filled your SLF 
•  have final grades of Credits and Distinction in  all the subjects studied in Grade 10.

Selection 

• The School principal of Aiyura National High School selects students based on their choices in the School leaver forms and the final grade 10 Results. 

Travel to Aiyura National High School
This is a national government run institution and students are provided with travel tickets at the beginning and end of the year. This applies to students coming from other provinces not connected by road.
