Post Graduate Diploma at University of Goroka

Postgraduate Diploma in education at the University of Goroka is a one year program for those who hold first degrees and would like to become teachers or trainers. In first semester, the program focuses on teaching and learning of pedagogical content knowledge and introduces the teaching and learning skills and methods in the foam of microteaching. In second semester, the program much longer practice time as a block teaching practice, whereby the students are exposed to the use of all learn subject and pedagogical content knowledge and skills. The aim of PGDE program is to develop or improve learner’s skill and methods to graduate to teach at least two subjects in their specialised field from recognised universities in PNG and overseas.

Duration: 1 year

Minimum Entry Requirement

Obtained a degree of Bachelor of the University of Goroka with a GPA of at least 2.7 in 300 – and 400 – level courses in the appropriate major
Obtained from another tertiary institution a qualification deemed suitable or equivalent to that of the above by the Senate or its delegate.

Credit Points: 140-160 credit points to graduate with PGDE
Courses outline: Following courses must be completed (120cps): Three courses including microteaching are taken in semester one; and two courses and a 6 weeks block practicum in semester two.

Courses completed as Bachelor of Education with Honours majoring in Educational Leadership and Management; Governance; and policy and planning are:

Dear sir/Madam

I Ms Venesha Masien, of East Sepik Province. I am an agriculture graduate, graduated with a bachelor in Sustainability Tropical Agriculture at PNGUNRE in 2020.
I am currently teaching for almost 6 years now at various secondary schools in the province as NTQ. Therefore, I'm requesting for an application form to do my PDGE next year 2026 as requirements of being a permanent teacher by profession.
