Southern Highlands Teachers College is located in Nipa , a district of Southern Highlands Province in Papua New Guinea. As a government-operated institution, it accommodates approximately 900 students and employs 30 teaching staff members, supported by nearly 20 administrative personnel.

Course Programs:
Southern Highlands Teachers College provides the following programs:

• Diploma in Primary Teaching: A three-year program culminating in a Diploma in Primary Teaching.
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education: This program prepares educators for early childhood education.
• Bachelor in Primary Teaching: An advanced program designed for individuals seeking higher qualifications in primary teaching.

Admission or Enrollment at Southern Highlands Teachers College:
The admission process is categorized into two main groups:

School Leavers:
Enrollment for school leavers is conducted through the Grade 12 School Leaver form (SLF). All Grade 12 students must complete the SLF manually and online via the National Online Application System (NOAS) overseen by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST). The college does not handle selections for this category.

GPA and Requirements:

• A minimum GPA of 2.4 is required.
• At least a B grade in English and Mathematics.
• A C grade in other Grade 12 subjects.

Non-School Leavers:
Non-School Leavers are those who apply outside the School Leaver Form process, including individuals upgrading their marks or switching careers to enter the teaching profession.

The application forms are available directly from the College or at the Department of Higher Education, research, Science and Technology (DHERST) office or website. . Applicants can request a form by writing to the college or collecting it in person.

Applicants must submit the completed form along with necessary documents such as a CV, references, and educational transcripts. The National Department of Education in Port Moresby manages the selection process. Non-School Leavers must demonstrate strong academic performance in their upgraded certificates.

The acceptance or selection list is released by DHERST, announced through the media, or published online. Eligible students are also notified via the NOAS.

The selection list is also announced through the media. Successful applicants receive an offer letter, facilitated by the National Education Department.
