Divine Word University - Our Lady of the Sacred Heard (DWU OLSH)   Kabaleo Teachers College is located in Kokopo in the East New Britain Province in Papua New Guinea. DWU OLSH Kabaleo Teachers College is a Catholic Church run institution and has a student population of about 1500 and teaching staff of 60. The College has nearly 50 support staff.  The college has now become the campus of Divine Word University which offers programmes in the primary education. 

College History
Kabaleo Teachers College was established in 1966 as a female teachers' college by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH). The initial purpose of this training college was to provide teachers for the under-staffed Catholic schools on the outstations of the Archdiocese of Rabaul. From 1966, OLSHTC Kabaleo continued to provide women with teacher education until 1994. In September 1994, Mt Tavurvur and Vulcan volcanoes erupted and this natural disaster destroyed the township of Rabaul and changed the entire province. The destruction caused a lot of schools and communities to migrate to better and safer locations. Two such institutions that migrated were: St Mary's Secondary School Vuvu and St Paul's Teachers' College Vunakanau. St Mary's Vuvu migrated to Vunakanau and the student teachers of St Paul's Teachers' College moved to OLSH Kabaleo and so in 1995 OLSHTC Kabaleo became a co-educational institution.

Course Program : DWU OLSH Kabaleo Teachers College offers Diploma in Primary Teaching. The programme runs for three (3)  years. Students graduate with Diploma in Primary Teaching.

Entry Requirements for Kabaleo Teachers College

• School leavers- Current Grade 12 students and  must complete Grade 12 with GPA of 2.6 or above. 
• Must have good grades (English C or above, Mathematics C or above, other subjects must be B or above.
• Non School Leavers - must have GPA of 2.6 and above on the upgraded grades.

• School Leavers

All Grade 12 students who wish to study at Kabaleo Teachers College must put First Choice in the Department of Higher Education, Science and Research (DHERST) National Online Selection System (NOAS). 
Note: NOAS is the online version of Manuel School School leaver forms. DHERST prefers online version of the school leaver form.

• Non School Leaver Application Forms for Kabaleo Teachers College.

Students who completed Grade 12  and upgraded their marks or those who have graduated through FODE system can apply to Kabaleo Teachers College as Non School Leavers. Non School leaver Forms for Kabaleo Teachers college are available at the college. Students can write to the college to request for Non School Leavers Application Forms. 

Note that completed non school leaver forms are sent to the college by post. The college then submit these forms to the department of Education who does the selections for eligible students.

Students from all over the country study at DWU OLSH Kabaleo Teachers College and the cultural interactions among students are phenomenal and exciting. The college participates in extra curriculum activities like sports, churches and so on. 
The college offers courses in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, live skills and so on.
