• Divine Word University

​Divine Word University (DWU) is a National University and a leading tertiary institution in Papua New Guinea. Formerly Divine Word Institute, it was established by an Act of Parliament in 1980 and was established as a University in 1996. DWU It is ecumenical, coeducational and privately governed with government support.

The University is open to everyone, regardless of race, creed, colour or gender, who shares its vision to serve society through its teaching and research in a Christian environment. Students come from all 20 provinces of Papua New Guinea and abroad. DWU has a special interest to advance opportunities for disadvantaged individual, women and youth to help build the economic and social capacity of the South Pacific Region.

DWU, as a university with Catholic tradition,” is an academic community which, in a rigorous and critical fashion, assists in the protection and advancement of human dignity and cultural heritage through research, teaching and various services offered to the local, national and international communities. It ensures that institutional autonomy is necessary to perform its functions effectively and guarantees its members academic freedom, as long as the rights of the individual person and of the community are preserved within the confines of the truth and the common good. DWU has been and continues to be a catalyst for improvement of higher education in the country. The University is committed to working with the government towards positive development of PNG. As stated in the mission statement, DWU is committed to "continuous dialogue and partnership with all levels of community, business, government and cultures in the life and work of the University;" a mission to which DWU is true.

The University is comprised of five faculties that offer full time and soon-to-be-offered online programs, supported by the Flexible Learning Centre that facilitates the delivery of flexible, part time, and blended learning programs. The four faculties are:

Pacific Adventist University

Pacific Adventist University (PAU) is a premier Christian institution of higher learning and research in the Pacific. The Koiari Park Campus is located in a peaceful rural setting, 14 miles outside of Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea.

The PAU campus, part of a 48-hectare estate, is set in a beautiful environment with water-lily lakes, a wealth of bird life, well maintained lawns and shrubs and well-chosen shade trees, making it a peaceful place not only for its residents, but also for many local and international visitors.

• University of Goroka 

The University of Goroka is located in Eastern Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea. As one of PNG’s oldest teacher training institution, UOG has a 50-year tradition of excellence in teaching, learning and research, from its transition from a teachers college to a fully-fledged university. UOG offers a conducive learning environment where students enjoy a perfect mixing of high educational standards, pristine mountain air and scenery from the Humilaveka hills, and an outstanding collegiate lifestyle. The University of Goroka, formally the Goroka Teachers College, became a fully-fledged university on March 25, 1997 after breaking away from the University of Papua New Guinea as a campus.

• University of Papua New Guinea

The University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) is a leading teaching and research University in Papua New Guinea. It is also the first University established in the country in 1965, and is located in the heart of Papua New Guinea, the modern and growing capital city of Port Moresby.

• University of Technology Lae

The Papua New Guinea University of Technology (Unitech) is located in Lae, Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea. It is Papua New Guinea's only technological institution, playing a vital role in the education of PNG elites, now contributing tremedously to the development of the country. Unitech has awarded since 2009 over 13, 029 degrees, diploma certificates to students mainly from Papua New Guinea and neighbouring Pacific Islanders. This represents a significant proportion of the Nation's professionally trained working population. Buildings worth seeing are the haus tambaran-style (spirit house) coffeehouse and the 36 Sepik-style carved pillars in Duncanson Hall. Parks and gardens surround the buildings. Unitech is located 8km out of town on Bumbu Road. 

Lae is the capital of Morobe and Papua New Guinea second-largest city. It was once a tiny mission station before the 1920s goldrush at Wau, and later developed into a major seaport. The town is well serviced by banks, hotels, department stores, markets and artefact shops. Goldmining, birdwatching and butterflies can be seen around Wau and Bulolo in the hills south of Lae. Lae is linked to the Highlands by the Okuk Highway.

• University of Natural Resources and Environment 

​The Papua New Guinea University of Natural Resources and Environment (PNG UNRE) is a small University based in East New Britain Province that is dedicated to promoting the sustainable utilisation of our nation’s natural resources.
The University  aims quality education by teaching, research and extension work that has been designed in collaboration with, and for the benefit of local industry partners and communities.

• Western Pacific University

The Western Pacific University (WPU) is located in Ialibu in the Southern Highlands province of Papua New Guinea. This is a recently established University in PNG. Classes have commenced and students are now taking up studies at the university.
