The Rio Tinto Pty Ltd makes available  funds to The University of Western Australia to encourage and assist high-achieving students to complete a Bachelor of Science and/or commence and pursue an eligible Master's course at the University in career focused fields.

Scholarship Benefits
To encourage and assist high-achieving students to complete a Bachelor of Science and/or commence and pursue an eligible Master’s course at the University in career focused fields.

Recipients may be invited to participate in the Rio Tinto vacation program over the summer break.

Eligible Nationality 

• Australian Permanent Resident
• Australian Citizen
• Temporary Visa
• International Student Visa
• New Zealand citizen
• Humanitarian Visa

​Eligibility
(a) enrolling in the third year1 (completed 96 points) of a Bachelor of Science with a major in--
(i) Geology;
(ii) Mathematics and Statistics;
(iii) Environmental Science; specialising in Earth Science; or
(iv) Engineering Science; specialising in Chemical, Civil, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Mining, or Environmental Engineering; or
(b) be commencing the first year1 of--
(i) Master of Data Science
(ii) Master of Geoscience
(iii) Master of Hydrogeology
(iv) Master of Information Technology
(v) Master of Environmental Science; specialising in Sensing and Spatial Data Science, Environmental Rehabilitation, or Environmental Management; or
(vi) Master of Professional Engineering; specialising in specialising in Chemical, Civil, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Mining, or Environmental Engineering
1 The following courses and majors are included as eligible for applications for 2021--
(a) Bachelor of Automation and Robotics, or Major in Automation and Robotics;
(b) Major in Artificial Intelligence;
(c) Major in Computing and Data Science; and
(d) Master of Ore Deposit Geology.

• You must be formally enrolled at the University of Western Australia as normal international student. 
• If you are in the third year of your study program and your field of study is any of the fields mentioned in the eligible programs above, you can apply for the scholarship.
