Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarships for International Research Students

There are six types of Japanese government-sponsored scholarships available under the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship program: those for research students, teacher training students, undergraduate university students, Japanese studies students, college of technology students, special training students. International Students from all nations around the world are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

Scholarship Program
-  Masters
- Graduate Studies.
Field of study:  Major in field of specialty at a graduate school. Applicants will study specific fields of study offered by the Japanese Universities.

Eligibility Requirements:  The applicants must have first degree preferably, Undergraduate degree for Masters program  and a masters degree for Post Graduate and PhD program.

Also the applicant will undergo 6 months Japanese Language training (54 universities such as Hokkaido University)
Those with sufficient Japanese proficiency are not required to go through preliminary Japanese- language training.

Age restriction: 35 years and below

Duration of Study:  Maximum 2 years including Japanese-language trainin.

Eligible Citizens: All International students around the world.

Number of Scholarships: 4042 Scholarships are available  for studies in Japan.

Scholarship Benefits
  •  ¥143,000~148,000 per month
  • Roundtrip fare (air ticket) provided
  • Tuition for national universities and Institute of National College of Technology waived; tuition for public and private universities paid for by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
Prior Entry Examination: Required ( to be taken in Japanese embassies and High Commissions in your country).
