THE Business and Professional Women’s Club of Port Moresby will be launching the Decie Autin Engineering Scholarship for Papua New Guinea women tomorrow.
The scholarship is partially funded and open for all PNG women studying, or intending to study engineering at universities.
Decie Autin (pictured) is the PNG LNG project executive, with ExxonMobil, and was responsible for planning, development and the execution of all aspects of the project.
Decie began her extensive experience as an engineer in the oil and gas industry when it was still a ‘man’s world’.
In her 30 years with ExxonMobil she worked as technical and startup manager on an offshore oil and gas production platform in the Gulf of Mexico, and as subsea and pipeline engineering manager on an oil project in Nigeria.
The club had provided scholarships to hundreds of PNG girls and women who would otherwise not have been able to continue with their education.
It encourages young women to undertake study in engineering, with a view to gaining employment in many projects in PNG.
The launch of the scholarship will take place in Port Moresby.
Tickets are K150 for the cocktail launch event and can be purchased by contacting Greta on 7195 1943 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
